I'm Craig. I'm married to Laura. I live in Nashville and make music for a living. I play guitar, write songs, and produce records.

Great night tonight at Art House Studio tracking guitars for Greg Wells’ EP.

I’m thankful tonight for James Sweeting’s friendship and musicianship. His engineering and musical ideas contribute so much to everything I work with him on.

I’m also thankful that Laura got to come to the studio tonight. It was awesome to have her there to experience what I do.

This record is sounding amazing, and I am beyond excited to share it with everyone!

Guitar String Question

The Elixir strings that I always used on my Taylor do not sound good on my new J-45.  I got the J-45 set up and had the guy put some D’Addario’s on it and they sounded great.  So I recently purchased a 3 pack of what I thought were the same strings.  They were not.  Now I have 2 packs of crappy strings.

Do I suck it up and use the crappy strings, or do I throw those away, waste the money, and buy new strings?

Randy Hughes is an amazing Luthier out of Fletcher, NC, and an incredible guy.

I met Randy at the Inspire Worship Conference in May. We shared a meal together and got to talking about my guitars. He graciously offered to let me come by his shop, spend the day with him, and he would do some work on my Gretsch for me while I was in NC for the summer at Crossroads.

Today was the long awaited day. He set the bridge in place so the intonation will stay correct, and fixed a stripped screw that was giving me trouble with my straplock.

Not only that, but he did some work on my frets and neck just because he’s nice. This guitar has never played better.

Fortunately, tonight is the night at Crossroads where I play my Gretsch through the whole set. I can’t wait for tonight to roll around.

If you ever need work done on an instrument, send it to Randy. You can ship it to him, and he’ll take care of you. His shop number is (828) 628-9777. You won’t regret it.
